The “Polar Vortex” hit us last week and it was brutal! It was the first and probably only time I will ever experience -45 degree windchill, and lets just say I’m not sad to see it go. My hands are still recovering from the blistering cold, so I thought now is the perfect time to make a nourishing body scrub.
This scrub is full of vitamins, protein, antioxidants, and healthy fats that will help turn dry, scaly winter skin, soft and smooth. On top of making your skin look beautiful, it also makes you smell like a wonderful oatmeal cookie. Don’t judge me, but I tasted it. While it is edible, you might be better off making these oatmeal cookies to satisfy your cravings.
What You Will Need:
- 3/4 cup oats
- 3/4 cup organic brown sugar
- 3/4 cup organic white sugar
- 1/2 cup organic coconut oil
- 1/4 cup organic olive oil
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
How to Assemble:
- In a food processor, pulse oats until coarse sugar-like texture
- Heat coconut oil in sauce pan or in the microwave until it’s in a liquid form
- Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl
- Portion scrub out into individual jars
- Store in a cool place for up to three months

Would it work to substitute coconut oil instead of olive oil?
Meaning, all coconut oil instead of half olive oil.
Kelly-
I haven’t tried it with coconut oil but I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work. Let me know if you try it.

Hello!! Your scrub looks really good, thanks for sharing your recipe:) I was wondering why is there a need to use 2 types of oil and sugar?
I literally just finished making this. I found it about, say, 15 minutes ago. Took 5 minutes to make and it smells delicious! I cannot wait for a shower to try out my new scrub! I needed a new one after my homemade rose scrub ran out. THANKS FOR POSTING!
Hi, can this be used on the face too? Thank you :)
So I made this last night. Literally 10 minutes from clicking the link in my RSS reader to filling a jar with the finished product. This stuff is amazing. I used up every last drop of coconut oil I had in the house, and now it’s on my shopping list to get more this weekend so I don’t run out of this amazing scrub. The smell of oatmeal cookies in my bleary 5:30 am shower was so much better than the lame flowery smells body scrubs usually come with, and my skin is as soft as a baby. Thank you!
Jaime,
That’s awesome! I’m so happy to hear that you love it. I totally agree with you on the scent…it’s much better to wake up to…now I just need to add some coffee grounds to it!

I’m not sure if I could ever use this…. I might eat it all before I smeared it all over me. hehe
Betsy,
It is pretty good :). Just don’t store it in the kitchen!
